One Justice Calls on the International Community to Intervene Immediately and Protect Palestinian Civilians in the Occupied Territories

Published

One Justice Organization expresses its deep concern regarding the execution of ten Palestinians in the city of Nablus, in the northern occupied West Bank, by the occupation authorities, on Wednesday, February 22, in clear violation of international human rights law and international humanitarian law, which prohibit extrajudicial killings.

Under the provisions of international humanitarian law, the Israeli occupation authorities have a duty to protect the human rights of all individuals under their control, including the right to life and the right to a fair trial. The organization expresses its deep concern that the killings of Palestinians, especially in the West Bank, are part of a wider policy that targets the Palestinians existence in the occupied territories.

The rules of international law oblige the occupation authorities to ensure the protection of civilians in times of armed conflict. Field executions against Palestinians, which have increased significantly over the past two years, represent a clear violation of this obligation, and may amount to a war crime under the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court.

Therefore; One Justice Organization urges the international community, especially the European Union, to intervene to protect the Palestinian civilians in the occupied Palestinian territories, and to hold perpetrators of human rights violations accountable. The organization also stresses that it is the responsibility of the international community to ensure that justice is achieved and those responsible for these grave violations of international law are brought to justice.
